Money-wealth basics

what if you have no money to start?

here are brainstorming ideas, sell your old tools that you do not need, start looking for any job. don’t feel bad about yourself because being broke is not the end of your life. you can improve your situation as soon as you get up, take action, and think positively.

how long does it take to build wealth??

building wealth usually takes years, not weeks or months. your results depend on your income, savings rate, debt, investment returns, expenses and consistency-not luck alone.

for example, I was closer to reaching $1 million when my business sales suddenly dropped by more than 50%. I barely recovered, and I didn’t have emergency fund to protect the business, I mean I learned the lesson harshly, so your journey and anyone’s journey will not be the same.

How to build wealth as a beginner (step-by-step)

It is clean and simple; get rid of debt, start earning money, save 20% of what you earn by living below your means, track your income, expenses, and saving (budgeting) all the time, establish your emergency fund, increase your income, invest what is left from saving and emergency fund, do it consistently for years and you will be closer to wealth.

here is a step-by-step guide to earning more, saving money, paying off debt, and investing for long-term wealth let us go.

Change your money mindset

Understand that wealth is built through consistency, patience and smart decisions, not quick-money schemes. remember the following quote and keep it in mind.

Wealth building is not easy it takes time and requires patience and determination, but still it is not only for those who were born rich, anyone can be wealthy including you whatever your financial situation and at any age.

Start earning some money

The very first step after changing your ideas about wealth is to start earning money, then we are going to repurpose this money to make wealth, in this stage any income source is fine as long as it keeps you earning.

Also, i see some people how have turned their passion into real money, you can check this post how you can turn your passion into real money.

Also, you can learn high-paid skill, the goal of this step is to help you earn more money, and this is very important step.

create a simple budget

Budgeting is simply deciding where your money will go before you spend it. Instead of receiving $1000 and wondering where it disappeared, you give every dollar a job-such as food, housing, savings, debt payments, investing and entertainment.

Wealth requires discipline not chaos and budgeting helps organize your money. You have to know exactly where your money goes every month so you can control spending and save more.

Budgeting matters because you can’t build wealth with money you constantly waste. Budgeting helps you control your spending, save consistently, avoid unnecessary debt, build an emergency fund, invest more money, reach financial goals faster and create financial discipline.

live below your means

you have to live below your means, so you can save more money every single month, do your best, stop dining out, stop adding new debt, stop buying luxury things especially when your income increase.

for example:

imagine a beginner earns $500 a month. he might start with:

  • $350 – essential expenses
  • $50 – emergency fund
  • $50 – debt repayment
  • $50 – investing/long-term savings

Start saving some money

let me make one thing clear: wealth is what you save not what you earn. you can make a six-figure annual revenue but still in debt, broke and too far from financial freedom, another guy might earn 30k per year still have good financial status.

Your path to wealth starts from saving money consistently then investing it smartly, any cent you save today is going to make you rich in the future, saving is one of the major habits that the wealthy people consistently do.

if you have a bad habit of spending too much you might face difficulty to save money, so I wrote this post, inspired by my friend the power of single dollar in saving money I truly think it is going to help you a lot.

build an emergency fund first

Business can crash, your boss can fire you, the sales can go down, you can be sick which means you cannot do your job, you can make an accident. if you don’t have an emergency fund you will be forced to take out loans, which maybe bad loans and this will eventually make you struggle and fall in debt.

it is recommended to save money that can cover six months of expenses, save this emergency cash in separate account and never spend from it unless you have an emergency situation, after you spend do not forget to refill this account.

If you can’t secure six months of covered expenses target 3 months, if that’s hard target two month if you couldn’t you have to save enough to cover one month of expenses, and this is minimum you can’t go less than that.

My post how to start your emergency fund as a beginner will help you a lot.

Get rid of debt

if you are in debt or struggling financially, it can be difficult to cover your living expenses, let alone build wealth, so first you have to get out of debt, avoid credit card debt, high interest loans.

It’s not a bad thing to be broke and in debt, it’s wrong not to try to make money while you can, do something. Try to earn money and learn right money habits.

Increase your income

One job often will not make you rich, but multiple jobs give you better chances, so you have to make multiple-income streams like launching new business or improve an existing one to increase the profits, freelancing, side hustles, and high-income skills, Side businesses, retail products, dividends and affiliate income.

But you have to avoid lifestyle inflation because many people make this mistake as their income increase, so the formula here is to seek income increase and at the same time to live below your means that’s it.

One good way to increase your income is to launch a business, study the business well then invest some money that you saved to increase your income over time.

Start investing early

Investing is the true engine of wealth generation, it means putting your money into assets that you expect to increase in value like stocks or generate income over time like real estate, instead of keeping all your money sitting in cash.

Before investing:

  • understand your goals.
  • build some emergency savings.
  • deal with high interest.
  • learn investing basics.
  • understand risk.
  • do not invest money you need soon.
  • diversify your portfolio rather than betting everything on one investment.

Liquid cash can lose its value over time due to inflation if not invested wisely, for example I invested my 5400$ in brand-new motor bike and after 8 months I sold it for 9200$.

successful investors put their money into assets that can appreciate or generate income, while avoiding unnecessary liabilities. they also diversify their investments stocks, index funds, businesses, real estate to reduce risk and protect their wealth.

different stages of wealth building include being a worker, investor, business owner, by investing your money you are taking yourself from worker to investor then business owner and that is real wealth.

Keep learning about money

The more you know about money the richer you are going to become, listen to podcasts, take courses about money, my favorite way to learn about money is reading books cause books have a great amount of information from wealthy people and their real experience.

Learn from wealthy people and try to learn from their strategies without blindly copying them, and most importantly learn from the poor people as well to avoid their mistakes, such valuable information like this can be found in books.

I recommend you start with 5 books as a beginner. it’s simple invest a couple of dollars to enrich your mind with good knowledge, see my latest post 5 important money books for beginners.

Repeat the process again and again

Wealth building is not one race which means you have to do the same things again and again for a long time and remember consistency is the key, in this journey you have to learn and improve your skills by learning from your mistakes.

Protect your wealth

There are tons of thieves ready to steal your wealth. Building wealth is one thing and keeping it safe is another different thing, so you have to be smart so as not to lose your money and be poor.

Famous wealth thieves are inflation, bad debt, lifestyle inflation, bad investing and so on for more about wealth thieves check this important post 10 wealth thieves to keep in mind.

you can protect your wealth by teaching your kids about money early and plant wealth habits on them so when they grow up, they will not spend and waste the wealth.

Finally for your first 30 days do this:

  • week 1: track every dollar you spend.
  • week 2: create your first budget.
  • week 3: find one way to increase income
  • week 4: start your emergency fund.

and do not try to change everything overnight, pick one step, complete it, and move to the next. good luck.
